This installation centers on SKW Stickstoffwerke Piesteritz GmbH in Lutherstadt Wittenberg, Germany’s largest agricultural chemical producer and a key local employer. In 2023, soaring gas prices driven by the Russian-Ukrainian war threatened SKW’s future, with German trade unions urging sanctions on Russian fertilizer imports to protect domestic industry. Using SKW’s product, the “stabilizer,” which prevents nutrient loss in crops, reimagined as a German map, the work reflects the societal and political urge to maintain stability and preserve national identity during a time of systemic uncertainty and international conflict.
