Ash Soap Cleansing, 2023
performance
Using cigarette ash from the same pile of cigarette butts as in the previous work, I produced a bar of soap intended for daily use as a ritualistic attempt to cleanse the memory over time. The soap functions paradoxically, both purifying and staining the body which mirror the tension between the desire to forget and the inevitability of remembering.
